District Leadership Committee and District Elections

An important part of Toastmasters training is learning about leadership, and the best way to become skilled at leadership is to experience it. Choosing leaders or choosing to be a leader begins at nomination and at the ballot.

The District Leadership Committee (DLC) evaluates all candidates for district elected positions and nominates the best candidate(s).

Our District Leadership Committee Chair is Jeff Kirsch. Jeff will accept nominations and, with the District Leadership Committee, will conduct interviews and nominate the best candidates for the 2020–2021 Toastmasters year. Elections will take place on April 18, 2020, during our district business meeting at the 2020 District Conference.

District 28 elects the following positions:

  • District Director
  • Program Quality Director
  • Club Growth Director
  • Division directors

Of the above positions, only division directors are eligible to serve two consecutive years. If you’re not familiar with these positions and the roles they play in our district, Toastmasters International’s description of the district executive committee roles is a great place to find out more. You can also find a list of current district officers in our DEC directory.

Changes to Protocol 9.0 regarding elections include a requirement for a minimum of two candidates for Club Growth Director. Members who run for an elected position from the floor must have participated in the nominating process through the District Leadership Committee. Please see Protocol 9.0 for full information on district elections.

Nominations for qualified members, including yourself, are due no later than February 22, 2020. To nominate a candidate, please review the District Leader Qualifications and Responsibilities (PDF) and return your completed District Leader Nominating Form (PDF) to jeffery.b.kirsch@gmail.com by February 22nd.

Let’s have a robust and competitive election!
