Leadership Opportunities Showcase Recap

District 28’s fifth annual Leadership Opportunities Showcase was a success, providing members from across the district with a chance to learn more about the opportunities our district provides to grow in leadership.

Our program began with three presentations. Past District Director Mike Carter presented his speech on the benefits of serving in district leadership roles, “To Get What You Deserve, Serve!” Our second presenter, Tanya Mattox, presented on the leadership opportunities our district offers outside of the district officer roles in her speech entitled “Toastmasters Core Values in Action”. Our third presenter, Brian Laskey, talked about his journey to leadership in “I’m a Leader, Because I’m Selfish”, a speech about how serving as a leader in Toastmasters is the best way to ensure Toastmasters is there to serve your needs as a member.

After the presentations, we had a trade show style session where members had the opportunity to talk to the presenters and our panelists about the many leadership roles in the district.

We’d like to thank everyone who attended, and all of the members who made this event possible: 2019 Leadership Opportunities Showcase Chair, Joel Book; our three presenters, Mike Carter, Tanya Mattox and Brian Laskey; panelists Ray Rivero and Carlyle Carvalho, who came and answered members’ questions about leadership opportunities; and District Director Kim Purohit, who supported this event.

If you didn’t have a chance to attend and would like to learn more about opportunities to get involved in Toastmasters beyond your club, please let us know!
