DESCRIPTION:Join us on April 23rd and 24th for our 2021 District 28 Conference: Thriving in the Midst of Change! This year’s conference is: \n\nYour chance to learn\, connect\, and develop new skills\nEntirely virtual\, via Zoom\nFree!\n\nRegistration\nRegister online to attend. \nKeynote Speaker\nOur district is excited to host 2015 World Champion of Public Speaking\, Mohammed Qahtani\, as our keynote speaker! \nGrowing up\, Mohammed suffered from severe stuttering\, but was able to overcome it by facing his fears\, pushing the envelope and performing on stage. He is passionate about public speaking and stand-up comedy. He has participated in several conferences around the world where he inspires people to chase their dreams. Watch his 2015 World Championship speech\, “The Power of Words”. \nWorkshop Sessions\nEngaging Toastmasters with Pathways (Staci Irvin)\nAn orientation about Pathways onboarding for new members and continued Pathways engagement for established Toastmasters. An in-depth perspective about the Pathways Learning Experience features would be a great perspective for potential\, brand-new\, and experienced Toastmasters alike! \nParliamentary Procedure in Action (Artisha Lawson)\nA basic overview of basic parliamentarian practices and provide an opportunity for participants to practice and provide an open Q&A session. Participants will have a basic understanding of basic parliamentarian practice\, especially those preparing for the District’s Annual Business Meeting. \nMeeting Engagement – Virtual\, Hybrid\, & In Person (Grace Morgan)\nThere are benefits to conducting events and meetings virtually – but how do you do it well? We will discuss the eventual return to in-person events\, the benefits of an online component will continue to make it a viable option for many organizations\, including Toastmasters clubs. \nCommunication & Leadership Award\n Ann Thomas is the executive producer of the Paul W. Smith Show on News/Talk 760 WJR. She also the executive producer of the radio station overseeing the work of all producers at WJR. Ann began her career at WJR in 1982 as an intern after graduating from Michigan State University and has since remained a part of the WJR team.
