Fellow Toastmasters:

Q: What's an excellent way to gain knowledge regarding important
leadership skills?
Q: What is one of the most important things an individual can do to
help those whom they are leading?

Answer to both: Attend Club Officer Training!

ALL club officers should plan to attend one of these Club Officer
Training sessions, scheduled for 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.:

Saturday, January 20, 2007, at the University of
Michigan-Dearborn, Social Science Bldg.

Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Owens Community College in
Perrysburg, Ohio, AV Bldg.

Both sessions will include opportunities to discuss challenges within
your club, seek advice, and network with other officers. This round of
training will cover different topics than the summer training, so
please plan to attend! We will discuss ways to help your club with
membership building, club quality issues, and using the new Competent
Leadership manual, and the spring speech contest season. For those of
you who think you might be ready to take on new challenges, there will
also be a presentation on District-level leadership opportunities.

There will also be a special training session for speech contest judges
from 8:30-9:00 a.m. that will feature several "Judges" who will explain
how and why they scored a Sample Speaker the way that they did. In an
actual contest situation, judges must remain anonymous, and are not
allowed to discuss their scores with anyone. This session will be
valuable to club officers, experienced and future judges, AND
CONTESTANTS!

Please don't let this chance to learn and to improve your leadership
skills go to waste! Bring yourself and your CL manual (if you have
one). Bring your fellow officers. Bring a list of three "best
practices" of your club and three questions/concerns to discuss in the
officer break-out sessions.

Registration and Breakfast for this FREE event will begin at 8:00 AM,
the program begins at 8:30 AM, and we’ll wrap up by 12:30 PM. Advance
registration is NOT required.
