Many will join facebook to search for groups that they have an interest in. For example, if someone has been transferred to a new area and they are already involved in Toastmasters they may go to TIA but they may also do a search through Facebook to see what clubs are active in the area. They can then look through the group and see what type of club members, events and ideas they discuss. This helps them connect to the members making the decision easier as to what club to join that matches their needs. Pictures, videos, and much more can also be posted on to Facebook advertising specifics about your club. I think that District 28 can use this as a promotional tool as well as a way to collaborate between clubs to increase our success. The best way to find out though is to take a look at Facebook.com and join the District 28-Division F group. -----Original Message----- From: Curt Gottlieb [mailto:lcgottlieb at sbcglobal.net] Sent: Friday, February 27, 2009 11:06 PM To: Joy Rooke Subject: Re: [D28_community] Facebook discussion I would like to know how Facebook, or any program would help clubs that desperately need to recruit more members. It just encourages scamming and identity theft! PRO, Ray Metz, already has something similar on his web page. Why aren't you taking advantage of that to "chat" with each other?
