On behalf of the District Executive Leadership Team, please help me welcome our newest club to District 28 and Toastmasters International, Kroger Toastmasters of Novi #1037144. This club chartered after holding only one meeting! Yes, it's possible! Congratulations to Frank Cooper, Cliff Suttle, Marilyn Albee, Kevin Olmstead, and Vicki Brannon in helping to get this club established so quickly. Frank and Marilyn have been named as the official Club Sponsors and Cliff will guide them through their first six months as their Club Mentor. Sponsoring clubs are Laff Out Loud and Dearborn Dynamic. When you see members of this club at the upcoming Club Officer Training, be sure to welcome them to our organization. Here's one more message about this weekend's Club Officer Training, and other important year-end matters. Please share with your club's officers. Thank you! All Club and District officers should attend one of the Club Officer Training sessions, scheduled for: * Saturday, June 16, 2007, at the University of Michigan-Dearborn in the Social Sciences Building. A map and driving directions are at: http://www.umd.umich.edu/maps_directions/ * Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Owens Community College (Toledo campus) in the Audio/Visual Building. A map and driving directions are at: https://www.owens.edu/about_owens/maps.html For both sessions, the Registration Desk opens at 8:00 AM, the program begins at 8:30 AM, and we'll wrap up about 12:30 PM. By the way, it's FREE! Being properly trained is important for your development as a leader. The focus of training will be how to help make (or keep) your club a QUALITY CLUB! If your club has not already submitted its proxy (mailed to club presidents back in March in a large, baby blue envelope), please have it signed and bring it along with you to training! This Toastmasters year concludes on June 30, 2007. Please make sure that your club has submitted the required paperwork to TI: * Club Officer List for newly elected officers * Late Dues for continuing members * Applications and Dues for new members * Education and leadership award applications PLEASE, even if your club is over 20 members, PLEASE don't hold onto new member applications until July. The District receives its funding from TI based on dues payments, and member payments this year are below projections. Fewer paying members means lower funding, which affects our ability to provide high quality services to our members. Also, the District is trying to achieve Distinguished District status for the fourth year in a row, and the biggest challenge is in the area of membership. We REALLY need your help! Thank you. Please share this message with your club members. Thank you! _*Club Officer Training*_ For incoming club officers who missed the training in Dearborn, another session is scheduled for: * Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Owens Community College (Toledo campus) in the Audio/Visual Building. A map and driving directions are at: https://www.owens.edu/about_owens/maps.html *IMPORTANT: We've been told that the I-280 bridge will be closed at some point Saturday, but we're not sure when. Locals may know how to get around this via surface streets, but Michiganders are advised to leave home little earlier and take I-75 South to the Wales road exit (exit 198), which I'm told avoids this bridge.* The Registration Desk opens at 8:00 AM, the program begins at 8:30 AM, and we'll wrap up about 12:30 PM. By the way, it's FREE! Being properly trained is important for your development as a leader. The focus of training will be how to help make (or keep) your club a QUALITY CLUB! _*Time is Running Out!*_ This Toastmasters year concludes on June 30, 2007. Please make sure that your club has submitted the required paperwork to TI (club officer lists, late dues, new member applications, education and leadership award applications) before the June 30 deadline. *ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: * June 30, 2007, is a Saturday. The TI website usually shuts down at 9 p.m. on Saturdays for maintenance. Even if it doesn't, the lines will be jammed with thousands of other users. You wouldn't want to find yourself unable to submit paperwork because you can't get on the site. Just in case, please submit your applications and other materials as soon as possible. (If you must submit materials via regular mail, June 30 is the postmark deadline.) PLEASE help District 28 achieve Distinguished District status for the fourth year in a row. The biggest challenge is in the area of membership. We REALLY need your help! Thank you. Karen Holland District 28 Lt. A make-up Club Officer Training session has been scheduled for *Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at the University of Michigan-Dearborn in the Social Sciences Building*. A map and driving directions are at: http://www.umd.umich.edu/maps_directions/ The Registration Desk will open at 6:00 PM, the program begins at 6:30 PM, and we'll wrap up about 9:00 PM. Please plan to stay for the entire program. It will be well worth it. Being properly trained is important for your development as a leader. Not attending is a disservice both to yourself and your club members. FYI: 1. ALL club officers are expected to attend training, but non-officers are welcome as well. 2. Even if you've been an officer before, and attended training in the past, PLEASE attend again. There's always more to learn! Besides, more experienced officers can be a valuable "font of information" for the newer ones. 3. We'll arrange for food. (Yes, it's FREE!) If you have questions, please write to LGET at d28toastmasters.org We hope to see you there! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
