Thanks! Ah, September! Children (and some adults) are going back to school. Days are getting shorter?nights are getting cooler?and Toastmasters club Treasurers need to COLLECT THE DUES! As many of you have already heard, the proposed dues increase was approved at August's Toastmasters International convention in Toronto. (A fabulous event, but that's another story.) The increase will allow TI to continue to improve its services to the membership, develop new educational manuals, and update the leadership track. The new fee structure is: Dues: $27, payable to TI every six months New Member Fee: $20 New Club Charter Fee: $125 Club Reinstatement Fee: $162 Club dues are "due" to TI by October 1, 2005, but may be paid on-line at www.toastmasters.org beginning Tuesday, September 9. For more information about the new dues structure, and to learn how to update your club by-laws to reflect the change in dues, please consult the FAQ sheet developed by TI and posted to: https://www.toastmasters.org/fupload/media/DuesIncreaseFAQ.pdf Club by-laws include a section on dues (Section III). A sample copy of the standard club by-laws is available at: http://www.toastmasters.org/pdfs/210c.pdf For new members joining after October 1, 2005, you'll need updated applications. TI has made the form available on-line. Here's the address for that: https://www.toastmasters.org/fupload/media/400MembershipAppDI.pdf Also, in addition to collecting the dues for our continuing members, let's sign up new members, get new clubs chartered, and rejuvenate ailing clubs before the other fee increases take effect! This is another reminder to my district colleagues to please remind your clubs about two things: 1) Contests and 2) the DUES! CONTESTS: Suggest that your clubs visit the D28 website, and click on "Contests." The Membership Building Contests (district and TI-sponsored) and the Fall Educational Contest are described there. There's even a list of Area, Division and District 28 speech contest dates. The website address is: www.d28toastmasters.org DUES: The dues increase was approved at August's Toastmasters International convention in Toronto. The increase will allow TI to continue to improve its services to the membership, develop new educational manuals, and update the leadership track. (We'll pass along details on these new programs as they become available!) (NOTE: The $27 is for TI dues only, and does NOT include club dues, which some clubs also collect.) Even if you don't have the dues from every single member yet, as long as you have them collected from at least six members, you can submit those you have, and then keep working on the others.
