Toastmasters - This One Is Different IF YOU MISSED THE LAST ONE, DON'T MISS THIS ONE This training is SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT than the training that was offered in Michigan in June. Yes! You can attend both trainings. They will be SUBSTANTIALLY DIFFERENT. The July training will focus on leadership development and networking with other Toastmasters leaders. Note that you can only get one Distinguished Club Program credit for attending club officer training. THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT Geared specifically to Toastmasters club leaders, this training will focus on deep leadership skills. There will be no bonus workshops. Most of the training will be in a large group setting. Club officers and those seeking better leadership skills are invited. THE MORE OFFICERS TRAINED, THE BETTER YOUR CLUB WILL BE Studies have shown that Toastmasters leaders who attend club officer training have better club performance. You may think you know everything, but encourage your fellow officers to attend and you can just go along for the ride. YOU WILL LEARN Duties of Your Office Member recruitment strategies Member retention and involvement strategies How District & International levels relate to your club How to promote Toastmasters events in your club and community Vision development Stretch Goals and how to establish them Action Plans and how to establish them Strategic planning YOU WILL GET Breakfast Lunch Networking opportunities Specific plans to implement in your clubs New leadership skills WHEN? WHERE?? I'm happy to announce the new membership building contest for for District 28. "A Season to Grow" runs July 1 - September 30. Please pass this announcement along to the Toastmasters clubs within your areas and divisions. (I realize it may not be possible to reach every club right away, since the new district directories are not yet out, but your efforts to communicate with as many of them as possible is deeply appreciated.) Note: Some computers cannot handle lots of graphics, so I've kept the attached version of the flyer very simple. Others won't accept attachments at all, so the text of the flyer is reproduced at the bottom of this message. Thanks! "A Season to Grow" a.k.a. the District 28 Membership Building Contest Summer is a season of growth. Days are longer. Plants get taller. With a little TLC, your membership roster can grow, too! "A Season to Grow", the District 28 membership building contest, is an excellent opportunity to help your club build its membership AND earn the chance to attend the Fall Conference for free! Here's how it works: - For current clubs (chartered before July 1, 2005), for every NEW member that a club signs up during the time period July 1-September 30, the club will have one token dropped into the flowerpot. - A bonus token will be added for every four new members that club signs up. (For example, four new members, five tokens. Eight new members, 10 tokens.) - To be as fair as possible, and to keep things simple, the TI District 28 Performance Report for September 2005 will be used as the official data source. Please be aware that membership applications submitted by mail, or submitted electronically very close to the deadline, may not be reflected in the report. Once TI posts this report, the drawing will be held and the results announced. - Four tokens will be drawn. Each winning club will receive one free full package registration to District 28's 2005 Fall Conference, scheduled for November 18-19, 2005, at the Holiday Inn-Fairlane in Detroit, Michigan. Additional Rules: - Clubs may win more than one free registration. It's simply the luck of the draw. - Winning clubs may choose which members receive the free registration by a random drawing, member vote, rock/paper/scissors, etc. If a recipient has already registered for the conference, his or her registration fee will be refunded. - Awards are not transferable to another club. - Free registrations are valid for only District 28's 2005 Fall Conference, and do NOT include hotel accommodations or any other charges. - To be eligible, a club must be in good standing with TI (dues paid). Newly Chartered Clubs: For each club chartered July 1 - September 30, 2005, that newly chartered club will automatically receive a complete set of the Better Speaker Series modules. After the club charters, if the club adds additional new members by September 30, those new (non-charter) members will be counted toward the main contest. Questions? Contact Karen Holland, Lt.
