It is very important that your club officers are trained. Please ensure that as many officers are trained as possible. Statistics prove that clubs with trained officers perform better. If you have already attended a training session this summer or if you are a member who does not hold a club officer position, you do not need to attend these sessions. Please see below for the opportunities and information on how to get involved. We need your assistance. WORKSHOP PRESENTERS There are nine workshops, scheduled in three sessions, at the Fall Conference. We are looking for a diverse set of programming for our members, from speaking and leadership skills to general interest. Programming relating to our conference theme, ?Building Bridges to Success,? is particularly encouraged. If you are interested in presenting a 45-minute educational workshop that will be beneficial to our members, please let Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training Todd Brockdorf (aka me) know. Contact me at tmb at comcast.net for a workshop presentation information form. Workshops and presenters will be selected at the end of August, so HURRY. These opportunities go quickly. COMEDIANS NEEDED Friday Fun Night will feature the comedy of professional comedian and Toastmasters 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking, Darren LaCroix. Like all good stand-up comedy shows, there are a few opening acts before the main feature. Do you think you?re funny? Show off your talents to the district. We are looking for four people to open for Darren, doing about 4-5 minutes of stand-up comedy or very humorous speeches. Hint: you should be funny; we don?t want to have to use the hook. If you are interested, contact Friday Fun Night Chair Paula Shelton at pdshelton at cmsenergy.com. ASSORTED ASSISTANCE We have opportunities for people to lead pledges, read missions (our district?s, not your personal one), offer toasts, provide inspirational thoughts, introduce speakers, monitor workshop presentations, guard doors, etc. PLEASE, if you are going to the conference, volunteer for SOMETHING. We are all in this together and the conference?s success depends upon all of us. Send me (Todd) a message (tmb at comcast.net) and I will redirect your desired volunteering position to the appropriate person. THANK YOU and see you at the Fall Conference where we will ?Build Bridges to Success.? So I won?t. Earn your Competent Toastmaster (CTM) Award, get a FREE FALL CONFERENCE registration (maybe). It?s that SIMPLE. No confusing rules. No complicated calculations. No requisite reporting. It?s all taken care of for you. Simply earn your CTM, whether it is your first or fiftieth, it doesn?t matter. It?s a simple fall educational contest from your friendly Lieutenant Governor of Education and Training. The not-so-fine, yet entertaining, fine print, because you just knew there had to be some: Your CTM award must be earned and recorded to TI between July 1 and October 27, 2005, which is the last reporting day in the Toastmasters month. Your name will be entered into a random drawing not supervised by any of the reputable accounting firms that typical oversee important drawings such as this one. Should your name be selected, do not expect the Prize Patrol to appear on your doorstep with balloons, cameras, and an oversized check; we?re Toastmasters, not Publishers Clearing House. However, if you win and are already registered for the Fall Conference, you will receive reimbursement of your registration fee. This prize is transferable and may be given, gifted, or inherited by another Toastmaster in good standing, however, it is only good for the District 28 Fall Conference 2005. This prize does not cover hotel costs. Top 3 Officers are ineligible to compete, but we?re used to it. Blah, blah, blah. All rights reserved. Void where prohibited. Feel free to forward this email to your club members. And for every 200 Toastmasters that read this message, Microsoft will give you $250. If you really believe that, please do not forward the message. Better yet, encourage your club members to sign up for the D28 Community list: (http://www.d28toastmasters.org/mailman/listinfo/d28_community_d28toastmasters.org) For Speaking and Leadership Excellence, Todd -- Todd Brockdorf, DTM Lieutenant Governor of Education & Training District 28 Toastmasters International H - 734.663.3854 C - 734.678.6068 tmb at comcast.net -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It has been a great time so far and it will only get better. I wish you were here. As you may have heard, District 28 is in the midst of our first ever strategic plan. It is designed to provide direction for our district from 2006-2010. We have had one very productive meeting so far and need your help before our next meeting in November. Think of it as a ?Phone a Friend.? Well, in this case, email, but you get the idea. It is a simple question. You won?t help us win one million dollars (US or Canadian). But, your answer could pay dividends for years to come. Are you ready? Here it is: If you could have District 28 any way that you wanted it, what would it be like, look like, and feel like in every way? Simple, eh? (As they say around here.) Please provide your feedback directly to me: tmb at comcast.net. Your input is greatly appreciated.
