2017 Fall Conference

Agents of Change

After 40 years, District 28 will present its final Fall Conference and transition to a single annual conference, held each Spring. While this may look like an ending to a longstanding tradition, it’s also an opportunity for District 28 to establish a new beginning and new traditions. Let’s look forward to the changes and challenges ahead, and let’s celebrate this new beginning together at the Fall Conference!

Our Keynote Speaker

David Brooks is an award-winning professional speaker and trainer who has taught nearly 100,000 business professionals to speak and write clearly, concisely, and confidently.

In addition to his teaching, writing, and training skills, his skill as a public speaker has been even more prominently recognized. In 1990 he emerged from a field of more than 25,000 competitors to become the Toastmasters World Champion of Public Speaking.

Since then, he has taught, coached, and mentored seven subsequent World Champions and dozens of finalists. He has been published in national magazines, and has appeared on nationwide television and radio broadcasts in the U.S., Canada, Taiwan, Oman, Australia and Sri Lanka. He was also once featured in a segment on National Public Radio.

He is the co-author of The Seven Strategies of Master Presenters, and he has also produced three audio CD learning programs: Elements of Eloquence, Speaking Secrets of the Champions, and Connect With Any Audience, and two DVDs to teach better speaking skills.

David Brooks Presentations at the Conference

Friday Evening: LOL. Or, a day you didn’t laugh is a day you weren’t paying attention.

Let’s open the conference with at least 50 laughs. Dave Letterman had his “Small-Town News.” Jay Leno had his “Headlines.” But they’re both long gone, so David Brooks, our keynote speaker and the 1990 World Champion of Public Speaking, will fill the void.

Saturday Morning: Essentials of Effective Speaking.

Opening keynote addresses are frequently full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. This one, however, is different. It is the nuts and bolts that every speaker must know. David Brooks has taught these skills to more than 100,000 business communicators around the world. Let a World Champion Speaker both educate and entertain you.

Saturday evening: Speaking With Strangers, One Block at a Time.

David has chosen our conference to premiere a new presentation he has been working on. He didn’t even want us to put in a description, for fear of giving too much away!
